When trying to make a change, identifying the root of the problem that is blocking you from achieving your goals is the first step. A large barrier preventing young women from making positive changes is gender inequality.

What is the Problem?
An issue still prevalent in today's society, many young women have experienced being ignored, dismissed, unheard or not taken seriously. Unfortunately, even getting the opportunity to be heard is extremely rare.
The Cause of the Problem

This problem comes from the stereotypes, especially gender stereotypes, that have been forced on young people from a very early age. History dictates that women, who account for about 50% of the world’s population, and young women in particular, are not to be taken seriously, and their only objective is to be subservient or in a lower status position than men.

The Development of the Problem
This suppression has resulted in a misrepresentation in places such as the government and other places where change-making is possible. Although the situation has improved significantly in the last century, there are still many gaps in gender equality.
The Result of the Problem
This has led to systemic stereotyping of the limitations of what women can achieve. Not only does this alter the perceptions of ourselves and those around us about what we can achieve, it also depletes our own self confidence and self worth. This mental barrier is the only thing that stands between yourself and making your mark on the world.
