Run like a Girl

When someone says you run, or fight, or jump like a girl, what's the first thing that comes to your mind? Do you think of someone small and limp? Someone weak and giggly?

In today's world, we use this phrase as an insult, to put someone down, insinuating weakness and a lack of power. The idea is ingrained in our minds, we never even think twice about what the phrase suggests about females as a whole.

Now, if you, a female, were asked to run, to fight, to laugh, you would do it. But you would do it with power and strength. You would do it with nothing less than what a man would do. We know now that women are just as capable and more than what we used to be portrayed as.

This is why we must challenge the words 'like a girl'. We must instead encourage fellow girls and women to redefine and re-empower these words. We must find our inner strength and confidence which has been suppressed all too often in the past. Yes, a person may do something like a girl - but is this really a bad thing?

So, the next time someone ever says to another - "you ____ like a girl", I challenge you to say "thank you". I challenge you to break this stereotype
