Why a Meaningful Career and Purpose?

Having a purpose is what drives us as sentient beings. Without it we may feel alone, or even unimportant. Your purpose could be something simple, like looking after someone you love or feeding your cat. Whatever your purpose is, you should know how it feels when you lose it, or if it no longer needs you. I can say in confidence that not having a purpose is my biggest fear. I know that losing my purpose, and meaning would be very upsetting. I know that’s what other people can feel too.

That’s why it’s important to not just have a purpose in your personal life, but also in your career. It’s also important not to think of your career as a job or something that just earns you the big bucks, but something that you’re passionate about so that you can integrate your personal purpose with a meaningful career.

Another point that makes a meaningful career important, is the direction in which our future is heading. We should all be aware that we as humans are causing a lot of strain on our surrounding environment. Although this is that of bigger organizations, that take advantage of the environment, and due to this, we are unknowingly contributing to these problems. Some of the strain is ending in poverty, the endangerment of animals, as well as cruelty to them, climate change which is causing the depreciation of the Antarctic Peninsula, imbalances of organisms in our environment, food security problems, the list, goes on and on until we’re left grasping onto the fact that the world and its inhabitants future is falling apart. That is why a meaningful career is so important. It doesn’t just benefit us but is also essential for the future of the world and the next generation.
